A flameworker at heart, Scott Griffin has been captivated by the material and the flameworking process since 1995.  At this time, studio flameworking and the glass pipe art movement, as we know it today, were just taking root in the United States.  Through the late 90’s Scott worked in a production lathe shop in Eugene, Oregon and worked on both the east and west coasts with a number of artists, learning and observing a multitude of different techniques.  Through these experiences Scott saw a need for more professional and appropriate tools for this new art movement.

The drive to help artists facilitate the making of their work is what started Scott on the path that brought Griffin Glass Tools to fruition.  Scott began working on tool designs and, in 1999, introduced his first batch of tools. Scott has worked tirelessly to stay on the cutting edge, designing equipment that is the most relevant to current glass artists’ needs.  As a flameworker himself, continually striving to be the best flameworker he can be, he is able to understand and identify the needs of the glassmaker.  As a member of the glass community, he is in constant discussion with other artists about their particular needs.

Scott focuses on designing tools that are made with the best and most appropriate materials.  All products are put through rigorous testing before release to ensure that they are rugged and made to last. Scott is very proud of the operation that Griffin Glass Tools has become and has great admiration for all who make the operation what it is today.

“Doing what we do at Griffin Glass Tools takes a whole team approach. I have a huge amount of respect for my hardworking team and the skilled professionals that I’ve pulled together to make our overall operation what it is!” -Scott Griffin
